Missions

Missions is a very important part of our Christian faith – helping those in need and spreading the word and grace of Jesus Christ.  Throughout the year we support various local missions and have provided help to individuals having an immediate crisis. Some of the missions we support include:

Sunflowers In Jarrettsville

Sunflowers in Jarrettsville is an outreach of churches and other organizations in the Northern Harford County area that provides a 20+ acre field of Sunflowers for public viewing. All proceeds are used to help families and individuals in our area in crisis -- with living expenses, transportation needs, funerals, house fires, medical needs, and more. Facebook

UMCOR

As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief – UMCOR – assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need. UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events—to alleviate suffering and serve as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR provides relief, response and long-term recovery grants when events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development. Tend My Sheep, Haiti

The Good Shepherd Orphanage: In the summer of 2017 we began developing and improving vegetable gardens on the grounds of The Good Shepherd Orphanage in Carrefour, Haiti. We began by installing a system of raised beds and drip irrigation in one garden.  We now have six vegetable gardens and a small fruit garden.  To date we have produced over a ton of fresh, nutritious vegetables to serve to children and staff of the Orphanage, children in the neighborhood feeding program and others in the community. Welcome One Emergency Shelter

The Welcome One Emergency Shelter (previously operated by FCCAU) provides 32 beds in a congregate setting for individuals who are experiencing homelessness. This includes 6 beds for women and 26 beds for men. As with most of our programs, referrals come from the Harford Community Action Agency. Living conditions are dorm style with shared community room and bathrooms. Meals are prepared and served by volunteers on a daily basis. Residents are able to stay up to 90 days and are offered case management services to include individualized action plans, assistance with job searches and housing searches, life skills workshops and referrals to other services within the community.Welcome One Emergency Shelter - Harford Family House
